I am greatly excited about the new ‘Godzilla’ film from Gareth Edwards. It looks like it’ll be a rare case of a genuinely good remake. One that respects the original film, ‘Gojira’ (1954), a film that respects the Kaiju genre. Edwards…
OK. I am a MASTER of knowledge when it comes to the mythologies of each kaiju in any Godzilla film. I can tell you stats, who won what battle, who would win in unseen battles, etc…
But I never got into how the films were made, the politics behind the camera, or the differences in how they were shot. Nevertheless, if you asked me about Godzilla, as he was my first true love for anything fictional, my eyes get bright and happy and the deep set passion I display makes others excited, even though they know next to nothing about what a kaiju is or think I’m mispronouncing the word “Mazer.” You SHOULD educate them if they don’t know. People like to learn. So what if they don’t really know what Biollante really means, or that it was Ghidrah in the 60’s and Ghidorah in the 90’s? Be a good person and talk to them.
Otherwise, you just look like a stuckup douche who wants to keep all the knowledge for yourself. That’s pretty shitty of a kaiju fan to do if you ask me.
